What To Expect From Therapy With Me
Our first meeting
After you get in touch, we can begin with a brief introductory call. This is a free 25-minute conversation, offering a space to speak about what has brought you to consider therapy. You’re welcome to share as much or as little as feels comfortable at this stage. It is also an opportunity to ask any initial questions and get a sense of how it feels to speak with me.
Beginning your therapy journey
If it feels right to continue, we can then arrange an initial consultation. This is a 60-minute session that offers a fuller space for us to meet, begin to get to know one another, and explore in more depth what brings you to therapy.
There is no expectation to commit to a particular way of working from the start. During this first meeting, we can think together about whether open-ended or time-limited therapy might feel most supportive, in relation to what you’re experiencing and what you’re hoping to gain from the sessions.
Therapy with me
I am psychodynamically trained, and this forms the foundation of how I work. People come to therapy for many different reasons. You might be seeking support for something specific or because of a more general sense that something isn’t quite right. Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers a way of understanding these experiences more deeply and can support greater emotional and physical well-being over time. I am interested in understanding your emotional experiences in the context of your personal history, relationships, and inner world. Together, we explore patterns that may feel familiar, repetitive, or stuck, and think about how these have developed over time and what they might be communicating.
I aim to create a calm, thoughtful, and non-judgemental space where you can slow down, speak freely, including about thoughts and feelings that may feel confusing, difficult, unbearable, or uncomfortable. We work at a pace that feels right for you, paying attention both to what you bring and to what happens between us in the therapeutic relationship. My way of working is not about giving advice or quick solutions. It is about supporting a deeper understanding of yourself, of how past experiences, relationships, and unconscious patterns may be shaping what you are struggling with in the present, and why you may be drawn to certain ways of acting or relating.
Through developing this awareness, it becomes possible to notice patterns more clearly, to feel less caught in them, and to begin relating to yourself and others with more choice, compassion, and freedom.
In our work together, we take time to explore your inner experiences and the ways you make sense of yourself and the world around you. Therapy becomes a space for reflection, curiosity, and developing a deeper understanding of what shapes your emotional life. Our work is a collaborative, unique, and creative process, with the quality of our relationship at its heart.
Over time, this work can help you feel more connected to yourself, clearer about your needs, and more able to navigate relationships and life with greater confidence and emotional flexibility.
I am here to support you.
